and so begins the next phase

and so begins the next phase

Grey’s first picture and the image that changed my life.
I jumped into this with both feet and not nearly enough forethought.
I submitted my thesis the day before my son was born and thought I could muscle my way through motherhood like I have done with everything else in my life.

Apparently it’s not as easy as it looks.

I guess I never actually paid attention to the mothers around me. They always seemed to handle the lack of sleep and instantaneous dependancy of this little being with such ease.

The first two months were hard. Much harder than I expected. Although my poor nipples still have not completely healed back together the little bean and I have seem to have reached a good place with a predictable sort of routine. I seem to know what he needs and most of the time I am able to make him happy. Actually, he smiles most of his waking hours now. I am so thankful to God for this baby boy…he’s brought so much peace and joy to our lives.
